Sunday, June 5th .... We rode 76 miles today.  Not as hilly as yesterday but the effects of yesterday were still very evident!  Everyone seems to be still dealing with the effects of all the climbing of the previous day.  I felt like I was dragging an anchor.  I felt I had the strength to get to Quincy, but I just had no speed.

Today was a "red letter" day in that we passed the 2000-mile point.  A marked accomplishment.  It is also notable that riders are more openly talking about being tired and the grind that they are feeling.

We also crossed the Illinois River into the state of Illinois.

Tomorrow, we have a 106-mile ride.  Then an 80-mile ride and then a much-needed rest day.  Even with the wear and tear we all feel it is a great accomplishment to complete this trip.
